Training to Teach
For those wishing to train to teach, and the聽 are our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers and have recently been rated as 鈥渙utstanding鈥� by Ofsted. Through our partnership with a range of primary and secondary schools across Sussex, we offer a high quality, bespoke School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme. The courses from both providers run in tandem with each other and lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE).
Benefits of Teach SouthEast
九秀直播 deliver the training aspect of the Teach SouthEast SCITT programme in Sussex via primary and secondary hubs. The Sussex primary hub is based St Mary鈥檚 Catholic School in Worthing. Trainee teachers gather each Thursday for a day of pedagogical and subject-based training from experts across the partnership of schools. The trainees in the Sussex secondary hub meet for their training day each Friday, at St Philip Howard Catholic School in Barnham (near Fontwell, between Chichester and Arundel).
Our partnership of schools are passionate about training and developing the outstanding teachers of tomorrow. We are guided by a commitment to doing what is right for the students in our partnership schools and what is right for our trainees. We pride ourselves on being a caring provider, and it is this care that impacts everything we do 鈥� we nurture our trainees to discover their teaching potential.
High-quality training enables all trainees to develop into confident and competent professionals. Trainees are well prepared through first-rate placements which ensure that they gain substantial practical experience, developing their evaluative and practical teaching skills effectively. This is within a Home school placement, four days a week, with the fifth day spent receiving General Professional Studies and subject specific training. In-school expert mentors and external subject trainers have consistently high expectations and work collaboratively to ensure training is coherent and highly relevant to the needs of trainees.

Our School Direct Places
There has never been a better time to train to teach with attractive bursaries and early career payments of up to 拢29k per year.
Successful completion of our School Direct courses lead to the awarding of a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and up to 90 Masters (MA) credits.
Prerequisites for enrolment onto courses include the equivalent of a 2:2 degree or above, a GCSE in English and Maths at grade C (4) or above (plus a grade C (4) or above in Science for primary education).
